Sonya DuBree is a Partner and founding member at Raleigh Family Law. A third generation Raleigh native, Sonya has extensive ties to this community. Sonya is married to criminal defense attorney Richard T. Gammon, who joined Raleigh Family Law in 2014. Her son, Luke, is a 16-year-old who loves playing football at Cardinal Gibbons and his chocolate lab, Max. As a parent to a teenager, Sonya has special insight into the complex issues parents face and the effect of a parent’s influence on a child’s life.
Sonya received her Juris Doctorate from The Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law at Campbell University in 1994 and was admitted to the North Carolina Bar the same year. As a graduate of the 1994 Campbell Law School class, she can boast of a solid legal education and that she is a member of the only class in the history of North Carolina with a 100% bar exam passage rate.
While in law school, Sonya served as a clerk with the Wake County District Attorney’s office and the law firm of DeMent Askew Gammon and DeMent. Sonya joined Marshall DuBree, Attorneys in 1994. Since the beginning of Sonya’s practice, she has concentrated on family law, including child custody, child support, alimony, property distribution, domestic violence, & restraining orders.
As an experienced trial attorney, Sonya often aids other family law attorneys by acting as a mediator in high conflict cases. Whether your case can be settled by agreement or requires litigation, Sonya’s analytical and negotiation skills will be incorporated into your case strategy.
Because of her years of experience, Sonya’s hourly rate is $400 per hour. Sonya’s consultation fee is $500. A team approach ensures that even if Sonya is in trial, there will always be someone available to provide you with immediate assistance.
